Sausage surprise!

Comedian Mikey Robbins is always good for a recipe. He introduced me to the joys of Marion's Kitchen recipe kits. But his recommendation of 'Quick-time sausage cassoulet', (a variation of a Jamie Oliver recipe) wasn't as successful!

It's not pretty- but I thought it tasted good!

Ingredients: small packet chopped mushrooms from the supermarket, packet bacon, extra virgin olive oil, mixed herbs, 2 red onions roughly chopped, 2 cloves garlic, one large carrot chopped, celery, 2 bay leaves, half bottle red wine, 2 cans borlotti or cannellini beans, 8 sausages.

Method: Preheat oven 200 degrees. Fry 4 tablespoons of olive oil and add mushrooms and bacon until crisp. Then add onions, garlic, carrot, celery and bay leaves. Fry for about five minutes. Add the red wine and simmer until the liquid has reduced by half.

Add the tomatoes to the pan and the beans. Bring to the boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Then put your chopped sausages on top and put in the oven for around 40 minutes. (I think I left it in for too long, and it dried out!!)

Success rate: Poor. One out of four family members ate it happily.
